IndiaMobile

Kyocera 7135Well, I did get to see the IndiaMobile phones today at the display booths at DAKC. From what I saw, the demo models(definitely the more expensive ones of the range of mobiles being offered) were the CDMA version of Samsung SGH-T100 and the CDMA-enabled Kyocera 7135. I certainly liked the Kyocera one more because of the PDA factor. No it is not like the Orange SPV I posted about earlier. Samsung SGH-T100One doesn’t really need Word & Outlook on a mobile PDA. PalmOS 5 remains as simple as ever but with full colours. The streaming videos were crystal clear and I saw our PM’s address and the India-New Zealand highlights on it. Internet is blazing fast at 144kbps (it should remain that way once people start using it). As a bonus for spending my Sunday in office, I also got to see and touch the new 10.6" footprint Apple iMac. Nothing to do with mobiles, it was being used in one of the CDMA video-conferencing demos.

" However, in India-GII, Dr Ashok Jhunjhunwala writes that [the 144kbps data rates] are "the total broadcast rate for all the subscribers in a cell/sector. This is shared rate and not individual rate." Can you refute that? And completely off-topic, whats the best way to see technical demos of the service? (I'm in Madras currently) The RelianceInfo website is just a fancy brochure, no useful info there.

If it would have been so easy, I would be the first to post it here. Unfortunately, the pricing plans and handset costs are not available with any of the technical guys, senior or otherwise. These matters are discussed by the marketing and management honchos behind closed doors. I came to know of the confirmed tariffs only a couple of days before the launch. Before that it was all rumours. If we are to believe in rumours, the handsets' cost range anything between 7k and 25k.

So how much does the Kyocera 7135 and the Samsung SGH T-100 Cost? Nilesh, we want you to dig that info. We want to know how much Reliance Infocomm is offering .... not the present cost.
