PCs revisited

Pigeon Clusters If you don’t remember the famous PigeonRank technology you might just need a little refresher. Some time back Google let open the secret of its fast search results. They reasoned that low cost PCs could be used to calculate the relative value of web pages faster than humans or even machine-based algorithms. They rely mainly on the superior trainability of Columba Livia to achieve this. By collecting flocks of pigeons in dense clusters, they are able to process queries at superior speeds as compared to the traditional reliance on birds of prey and brooding hens. It seems till date no one has been able to beat Google on this technology. Read more here.

Hey Nilesh, Did you check out this article (http://biz.yahoo.com/rc/030402/tech_microsoft_google_1.html) about MS thinking Google is going to be a strong competitor to their Net services market? And how they are planning to develop something to counter Google's popularity as a search engine. This was posted on Slashdot on 2nd April and as the poster rightly pointed out, they could have released this on 1st April and it would have fit wonderfully along with the other slashdot April Fool Jokes. :) Cheers, Dhar PS: I just finished Free For All (remember that book we downloaded on how Linux and the Open Source software were taking on the proprietary software titans). say nilesh yaar kabhi mail kar!! i can see u r actively online again! Unfortunately am offline msot of the time. Say did u have anything to do with my not being able to access my MT weblog software?? ;) coz am unable to log in now!! or maybe it was hostmagik with all their mintennace! At anycase i have lost it! :(
