Raigad

November 24, 2002 11:48 PM

Phew! back from a 2 day trek to Raigad, the once glorious capital of Shivaji Maharaj's empire. Ya, 2 days too less, Raigad has enough to keep you occupied for a week. RaigadIt is one hell of an engineering marvel, one of the best that Shivaji built during his rule(the only better one being Rajgad). This fort is proof enough that in addition to being a great warrior & planner, Shivaji was a smart businessman and had a marvellous engineering sense too. Please check my photolog in a few days to come. I intend to put up interesting photos and information on technical and historical importance of Raigad. Oh! I find it hard to describe in mere words. And btw, rappling enthusiasts should be happy to know that Raigad has the highest rappling face in India, about 1200ft, which I discovered only now.
