Simputer Rollout

The Register reports that the Simputer has at last found a manufacturer and will probably roll out next February. After all the good responses and the bad ones, it is finally getting a position in the tech stores, albeit a bit late.

Met a few lads here at iitd yesterday....... they did not think the project was not doing too well....

bad, in the sense, it took one year before it was adopted. In one year of production, it would have been far ahead.

The main problem being the hardware specs being open. Probably, companies felt there would be no earning here.

the lads and the fac thinks they lost the focus once they went ahead with the PDA thingie...
